[ViAX 250] Mova ViAX 250 avoids stepping stones (thinks they are obstacles)

Hi everyone,

I recently got a Mova ViAX 250 robot mower and overall I’m quite happy with it, but I’m running into an issue with obstacle detection.

In my garden I have a path made of stepping stones (flat tiles placed in the grass). The mower seems to recognize these as obstacles and avoids them, which results in patches of uncut grass around and between the stones.

I’ve already tried:

Remapping the area
Adjusting zones
Making sure the tiles are level with the grass

But it still avoids them.

My questions:

Is there a way to reduce the obstacle detection sensitivity (e.g. set it to “low”)?
Has anyone managed to get the mower to just drive over stepping stones like these?
Are there specific settings or tricks (AI vision, zones, etc.) that work better for this situation?

Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance 👍

Dear BH265352,
Here are some methods that I hope will help you.

You mentioned there are uncut grass patches around and between the stepping stones. If the stones are perfectly level with the grass with no height difference, we recommend remapping the boundary right along the edge of the stones to get a cleaner cut.

Another option is to use manual / remote control mode to drive the mower over those edges and spot-mow the missed areas.

Unfortunately, there is no option to adjust the obstacle detection sensitivity on this model.

I had the same issue, and adding Accessible Zones with squares covering the paved stones, solved it for me.

I had a similar issue with a Viax 600. It refused to exit a path where a slanted black soil ramp (without grass was the lawn exit. Covering the part with an accessible zone made the issue better.
