Hi there.
I wasn't sure to make this or not, but i have decided to.
I (very recently) bought the MOVA Z50 Ultra as my second robot vacuum cleaner.
Received it yesterday (August 14th, one day delivery through Amazon), and tried all of its features and differences with the P50 Pro Ultra.
I want to start saying that this model is an incredible work of engineer and its mopping ability is breathtaking to say the least.
The slick and different design is luxurious, all opaque/matte black, even tho it is victim of dirt which can be seen very easily after its first cleaning task.
Its navigation sensor, LIDAR and camera are i can say way better and precise than the P50 Pro Ultra, even tho it doesn't leave aside its own issues, which are not less than the positive sides, sadly.
Currently on firmware version 4.3.9_2110, you can check out my other post suggesting about this argoment:
https://forum.mova-tech.com/foru ... &extra=page%3D1
Its different accessories, such as the rubber piece that is below the robot to help the direction of dirt towards the suction is intuitive.
One of its.. "few" pros is that its mop is very incredible, pushing 18N of pressure/force and leaving the floor super clean.
Its FlexArm much better than P50 Pro Ultra, longer and with better reach possibilities.
Finally, before starting with the cons, or i should call them, the sadness of this model, i need to talk about my first impressions with it, right from its unboxing.
My first thoughts when i look at it, at its packaging, at its base, at its downsides, looks like the MOVA Z50 Ultra came to life with many problems and mistakes, maybe even design indecisions and unsure of where to proceed with its figure.
Like i said in my last post, in no way i write this to offend anyone, but to share what i think after experiencing it for the first time, my impressions could easily change with firmware updates, and maybe (maybe) with the Z60 Ultra.
I am here to try and help who is behind and does work for hours, weeks, months, years, studying the prototypes, studying the way a robot can be made and can work, can be a success.
Before proceeding i want to specify that this points have been looked at multiple times and not after its first map was made, and all settings have been altered, but no differences were seen, if not very small.
You can see how the base is made, even tho i love it because is different and slick:
1. It's auto-clean feature is insufficient and not up to the standards, at 1-2 cleaning cycles its already dirty, and cleaning it doesn't change much, you need to remove the plastic piece and wash it yourself, which is very annoying when the P50 Pro Ultra does all by itself, at most.. you do it once a month or more.
2. Maintenance is well over as well, compared to the other robot, which is another bad side, as a robot should be towards autonomous than assisted, not case of this Z50.
3. Detergent in a proprietary small tank you need to replaces it by buying the piece separately is.. i don't really know how to describe it.. scammy? disgusting? horrible? Bad design decision? One of its most cons of the robot basically, but not the worst.. sadly. I can't understand where this decision came from but if the Z60 can have a normal tank of double detergent, i can't understand why this needed to be designed like it was. And here you can see a design confusion seems like. When this small tank won't be available anymore.. what should i do? Throw random detergent inside the clean water tank? Inject the empty detergent small proprietary tank with a syringe? You can see this isn't a good way of designing an accessory, or even a base for a product.
4. Clean and dirty water tanks are inverter in position, which made me to almost mistakely fill up the wrong tank, being used to clean being on the right, or center, and dirty on the left.
5. Auto-Empty is extremely loud and annoying to hear, close to double the sound of the P50 Pro Ultra.
6. Sometimes when auto-emptying i hear plastic/metallic sounds which are very annoying, even tho when i check everything is okay.
7. Auto-Clean and injecting water before starting a task is super long compared to the other robot, it takes at least 1 to 2 minutes before starting it.
This were the cons of the base, now i will be listing the robot ones:
1. Robot is much faster in terms of speed and precision compared to the other, but too aggressive when doing so and it ends up hitting walls, cabines, doors and any other obstacle, even when is close to turning it speeds up out of the sudden, to then stop in 1ms, which is odd. Even when going back.
2. Robot is confused on how to clean carpets and starts circling and doing strange movements all togehter, before doing so.
3. If you own multiple robots, calling one will call even the other, which will double everything you tell, and that's why i had suggested to customize their names.
4. Robot moves itself without any command whatsoever even after ending its dry process and it ends up scaring me as it happens out of the sudden and for no reason.
5. Robot hits cabinets handle even tho it has a camera, sensors and LIDAR. (image attached)
6. FlexArm doesn't close in time and ends up getting pushed by the force of the wall or any surface that the robot goes to.
7. Robot has docking issues, sometimes it docks correctly, some others it ends up stuck on the base or going back and forth as it does back up wrongly, its base is set up correctly within the parameters and more suggested. (3+ meters in front, 1 meter from one side, 1.5 meters from the other)
8. Robot gets too close even tho i state above, i set up with both collisions off or on, but it doesn't change its behavior, ending up hitting and damaging one of the doors (it scratched it a bit). never happened with any expensive robot in my life, which made me mad a bit.
9. Lift system of mop and side-mop insufficient, the carpets get completely wet.
10. In my language (Italian) the voice assistant calls the roll "mop", which is not.
11. Accessories are named wrongly in the interface of the app always in the Italian language.
12. A bit better at extending the FlexArm compared to the other robot, but still it doesn't extend it every time, sometimes it does, some others not, which doesn't make any sense. (again, i tried altering and playing with the settings, which made the situation only worse)
13. If you get in front of its path it starts circling randomly and trying to avoid you, even tho you are not there anymore, and it needs double the time to figure out that you are not there, which again.. strange as it DOES, or SHOULD use LIDAR, camera and sensors to check it, which in my impression it doesn't, and is a very bad thing. it still DOESN'T update the map in realtime based on moving obstacles or obstacles that have been moved recently, another issue of the already released P50 Pro Ultra.
14. Final point.. battery and duration of the robot..questionable. It made through 25/30 to 35/40mq and it had 67% of battery, which.. the P50 was well over 87%. It's based includes an enormous, i think exagerated quantity of clean and dirty water tanks, which doesn't add up with the duration of the robot's battery.
I'm not sure at this point if this robot deserve the space in my house or will be refunded back.
In no way like i said i am here to offend, but looks like a very problematic product, with beautiful choices of design and everything, but at the moment is a very rough release, in my opinion.
To be completely honest, i think that whoever is trying to get feedback on new products and makes the decision of who to choose when testing, is doing it completely wrong.
Influencers, random people, and whoever is only interested to get attention or having a free product in its house, *IS NOT* the right choice when it comes down to testing and providing feedback, which.. i can imagine.. not a lot of people got back with feedback and advices for the Z60, which now i am very worried about.
If you want actual useful resources, and want to have a product that surely is way better than this and V50, which as i seen has similar issues, because of insufficient feedback and testing from valuable resources, you *MUST* choose the right people, you *CANNOT* randomly choose them and expect/hope that every single one of those will be right, because as you see, it is not, simple as that.
With that, i end this feedback post.
A bit sad and mad, please.. MOVA, Do Better and Choose Better, Smartly.
PS. You cannot sell a product without its accessories being avilable to the public, that's.. very bad. Also, i feel like no internal testing have been made for parts breaking and accessories deterioration.
Until next time,
Chris.
