I’ve been using the Mova PF10 Pet Feeder with my dog’s kibble, and I’m running into a pretty frustrating issue: the amount of food it dispenses is really inconsistent, and it’s almost always not enough for what my dog needs per feeding.
To get ahead of some of the basic troubleshooting suggestions — I’ve already set the calibrated weight to 10 grams, and my schedule is set to dispense 8 feedings 3x a day each throughout the day. In theory, that should be plenty. My dog needs 240g per day. But in reality, I’ve had to manually trigger 4 feeds additional feeds per meal time most days just to get close to the amount my dog actually needs.
It looks like the feeder is measuring food based on the number of hopper rotations, not the actual weight dispensed, which seems like a flawed approach — especially since different kibble sizes and shapes can vary a lot. It makes me wonder why they don’t base it on the actual weight in the bowl or use some kind of sensor to make sure the right amount is coming out. Obviously this is possible since it has a scale built it. Relying on the hopper feeds is super flawed.
Is anyone else seeing this issue? Could this be because my kibble is too large for the mechanism? Any reliable fixes or workarounds?
Thanks in advance — open to any ideas.
