I always like to share the curtain trick for making sure your robot cleans around appliances and under toe kicks better in the kitchen. You place a curtain on your map just behind where your toe kick is for example, and it forces the robot to get closer. In my experience, these robots never do too well under toe kicks since they are programmed to keep a safety buffer away from what it thinks is a solid barrier, in order to avoid scuffing furniture. The curtain tells the robot, "This isn't a wall, it's a soft barrier" which allows it to drive closer or even slightly under the overhang. I always use this trick in my kitchen when setting up a new robot. Sometimes you have to adjust the placement of the curtain a bit after putting it down in the map. |
